PAGE & BLACKMORE SHORT STORY COMPETITION

2017 PAGE & BLACKMORE SHORT STORY COMPETITION

This national short story competition, sponsored by Nelson’s Page & Blackmore Booksellers, opens for entries on 1 January 2017. The judge is Kevin Ireland, who is a renowned poet, librettist, and author of novels, short stories and memoir.

Writers may submit as many entries as they like, provided an entry fee of $20 is paid for each entry. The judge will provide a written assessment of the ten short-listed stories, and all other stories will be given feedback from an experienced writer. The top three entries receive book vouchers from Page & Blackmore to the value of: First, $300; Second, $200, Third, $100.

The word limit is 1500 words, and the closing date is 1 April. The results of the competition will be announced at the 2017 AGM of the Top of the South branch of NZSA on Saturday 13 May in Nelson. Winning and shortlisted stories will be published in an anthology later this year.
