WRITERS AT LUNCHTIME

WRITERS AT LUNCHTIME

The next Writers at Lunchtime meeting is on Wednesday 5 April, 11.30 am – 1.30 pm. The guest speaker at 12.30 pm will be Jude Watson.

Jude will discuss the various roles of an editor, both as a responsibility to the author and/or publisher, but also the roles within editing, from proofing to copy-editing and structural editing, and how they differ. Jude has experience with Penguin Random House, Gecko Press, Huia Publishers and Potton & Burton, and will compare the life of a freelance editor as opposed to working within a publishing house.

Jude says: ‘Sometimes a writer, particularly a self-published writer, will choose not to use an editor, to save costs and because they think they’ve picked up the errors, but we’re always regarded as that “fresh pair of eyes” and I think the role is still well worth valuing.’

Writers at Lunchtime takes place at The Prince Albert, 113 Nile Street, Nelson (car parking is accessed from Tasman Street). Come any time from 11.30 am, but make sure you are there at 12.30 pm for Jude’s talk. Everyone is welcome. Gold coin donation appreciated. For more information contact Chrissie on 03-5469818.
