Literary Agents

Literary agents represent your work to publishers. They generally work with completed manuscripts which are marketable. Bona fide agents do not charge fees for their work but have a contract which provides for a percentage of the author’s commission on sales. If you have any concerns over an agent, contact the NZSA office. The NZSA recommends using members of the NZALA.

The NZ Association of Literary Agents (NZALA)

The NZALA is an association of New Zealand-based literary agents established to maintain professional standards and to generally represent the interests of its members. The association operates a network and has a charter covering the aims of the association, membership eligibility and a code of professional behaviour. For more information contact Glenys Bean
