Poets and writers from around the world stand in solidarity with Ashraf Fayadh

After PEN International’s high profile campaign, which was picked up by media across the world including the Guardian, Der Spiegel, CNN, Le Monde Diplomatique, Internationales Literaturfestival Berlin has instigated a Worldwide Reading for the poet Ashraf Fayadh, who’s sentenced to death in Saudi Arabia, on January 14.

If you are in Auckland you can attend the Poetry Reading at Auckland Library in Lorne St. Courtney Sina Meredith and Robert Sullivan will be reading Fayadh’s work. Writers and artists of Auckland are invited to take part in the event as texts will be available on the night.

PEN has called on the Saudi authorities to release Ashraf Fayadh and others detained in Saudi Arabia in violation of their right to freedom of expression immediately and unconditionally.
