Wellington Oral History Workshop Day one

The Essentials of Oral History research – This is a two day course, with one month between them.

Day One: Introduction to Oral History Research

Saturday 13 April 2019 8.45am – 4.30pm

An introduction to oral history methodology. How to plan an oral history project, choose the best equipment, achieve clear audio recordings, select informants, follow ethical procedures, develop questioning techniques, process recordings, and make the material available for use.

Bring a recorder if you have one you intend to use for recording.  Exercises to be completed before Day Two will be discussed.

 

Saturday 13 April 2019 & Saturday 25 May 2019

Time: 8.45am – 4.30pm

Venue: Meet at Te Ahumairangi (ground floor), National Library, corner Molesworth and Aitken Streets, Wellington

Cost: $300 ($200 for Community Services card holders or students*) for both days.

Equipment: All equipment is provided and all participants recieve comprehensive guides and resources and upon completion, a certificate of attendance.  If you already have a recorder you intend to use for your project, please bring it.  If you intend to purchase a recorder beforehand, please email ATLOutreach@dia.govt.nz to check minimum specifications.
