Hamilton Branch

The Hamilton Branch was founded when 20 local writers met in a lecture room at the University of Waikato on Friday August 12, 2011. The first elected executive included Peter Blakeborough (chairman), Tui Allen (deputy chair), Paul Gilbert (secretary), and Jeff Taylor (treasurer). The speaker at that inaugural meeting was NZSA chief executive, Maggie Tarver.
Meetings were poorly attended at first, but when the branch began meeting on the third Sunday of the month at Onyx Café in Cambridge, it blossomed.  Meetings are now well attended, lively, sociable and informative with guest speakers from all parts of the publishing world.
