NELSON LIVE POETS

NELSON LIVE POETS

Nelson Live Poets meet on the third Tuesday of the month. Due to the unexpected closure of their previous venue, The On Inn, their next meeting on Tuesday 13 November will take place at The Waka, corner of Colllingwood & New Streets, Nelson.

This month they welcome special guest Ben Brown. He has written over twenty children’s books as well as short stories for children and adults, general non-fiction, freelance articles and memoir. His poetry has been published in various anthologies in New Zealand and around the world, and Radio NZ and The Radio Network have also recorded him. In 2011 he was the Maori Writer in Residence at the Michael King Writers Centre in Auckland. His poetry collection Between the Kindling and the Blaze was shortlisted in the 2014 Nga Kupu Ora Aotearoa Maori Book Awards. Ben lives in Lyttleton and is a regular performance poet/MC around the country.

Koha entry. Doors open at 7.30 pm. Bring a poem to share or just enjoy the show. Singer songwriters are also welcome. To read, simply sign up on the night. Please show your support for the new venue by purchasing something from the bar.  For more information contact Cat Woodward at  cat.woodward@outlook.com
