Pitching, and getting your pitch accepted – webworkshop – Ataria Sharman

10am to 11.30am, Saturday 27 November 2021

Do you want to get paid for your writing? As the Editor of The Pantograph Punch, Ataria receives pitches from writers and press releases from publicists every other day. Come learn from an Editor’s perspective on what makes one pitch stand out over another – what gets commissioned and what languishes in a busy editor’s mailbox. Real-word tips on making it as a freelance writer and making a name for yourself.

Ataria Sharman (Tapuika, Ngāpuhi) is a writer of essays, poetry and articles. She is the Editor at The Pantograph Punch and creator of Awa Wahine. The manuscript for her children’s fiction novel Hine and the Tohunga Portal was one of five selected for Te Papa Tupu in 2018. She has self-published a collection of writings by wāhine Māori on the atua wāhine and has a printed magazine for Awa Wahine coming out soon.
