Nelson Live Poets meet on the third Tuesday of the month. Their next meeting on Tuesday 19 November at The Prince Albert, 113 Nile Street, Nelson, features two guest poets: Carol Don Ercolano and Panni Palásti.
Carol Don Ercolano is a Nelson poet with strong ties to Golden Bay, through caving and a family bach. Carol is a founding member of a local writing group, the Boulder Writers, and has been published in a number of anthologies and magazines both in New Zealand and overseas. She has edited and compiled a number of anthologies and enjoys the analysis and appreciation of poetry as much as she enjoys writing it herself. Carol assists in running Nelson Live Poets and also runs the Poetry in the Window Scheme.
Eva Brown writes under her maiden/pen name of Panni Palásti. She was born in Budapest, Hungary, and has lived in New Zealand since 1973, in Nelson since 2002. She says: ‘Some of my work reflects my early experiences, which include schooling under Nazism and under Communism, life during the siege of Budapest in 1945 and during the 1956 revolution, times of helpless fear, all of which have left a profound impression on my mind. Others are about the joys and trials of everyday life and thoughts about our rapidly changing world.’
Doors open at 7 pm. Bring a poem to share or just enjoy the show. Singer songwriters are also welcome. To read, simply sign up on the night. Gold coin koha entry. For more information contact Deirdre Lusby at firstname.lastname@example.org
