IPEd Editors Conference May 2-9, 2023

Earlybird registrations open for the online IPEd Editors Conference

 

Earlybird registrations are available for the 11th IPEd Editors Conference, a virtual event with special access after-play facilities from 2 to 9 May 2023.
Centred around the theme of “Futureproofing the editing profession”, the biennial conference has an amazing line-up of speakers and panellists, with keynote presentations, workshops, panels and networking opportunities.

For example, learn about:

  • “AI and related technology in scholarly publishing – a double-edged sword?” by keynote speaker, Martin Delahunty, Founder and Managing Director of Inspiring STEM Consulting
  • “Books without barriers: A practical guide to inclusive publishing” from Julie Ganner AE, editor, and Dr Agata Mrva-Montoya, publishing professional, Maryanne Park AE, editor and technical writer, and Kayt Duncan, author and illustrator
  • “Publishers panel” chaired by Institute of Professional Editors CEO Karen Lee and featuring the Publishers Association of New Zealand represented by Claire Murdoch, who is the Head of Publishing at Penguin Random House New Zealand, Small Press Network General Manager Tim Coronel, Melbourne and Australian Publishing Association Policy & Government Relations Manager Stuart Glover
  • “Adapting to technological developments in language use and publishing”, a keynote interview with Emeritus Professor Roland Sussex OAM, School of Languages and Comparative Cultural Studies, University of Queensland
  • “Making information usable: 3 lessons from the digital disciplines” from Caitlin Whiteman AE, editor and writer
  • “Writing and editing the ‘other’ in fiction and creative non-fiction” from Dr Renée Otmar HLM, writer, editor and researcher
  • “Futureproofing the next generation of editors: How mentoring benefits all of us”, Dr Elizabeth Beach AE, editor and writer.

This event is open to freelance and in-house editors, publishers and people from related professions from all levels of experience. It also features a panel of international speakers from Canada, the United Kingdom and South Africa.

You can access the sessions via our playback facilities for three months afterwards. However, you can only access the after-play if you’re a conference registrant. They will not be available for sale after the conference.

Please note, the professional development workshops on 2 May 2023 will not be recorded. In addition, they represent a separate package for purchase and occur the day before the official conference launch on 3 May 2023.

Earlybird tickets are available until 10 April 2023. Members of IPEd and affiliate organisations can purchase tickets at member-only rates.
