The Finalists for this year’s Pikihuia Awards for Māori writers was announced July 13.
Robyn Bargh, Chair of Te Waka Taki Kōrero | The Māori Literature Trust is thrilled with the number and quality of entries.
“The range of submissions is very impressive; the Pikihuia Awards are a chance to reconnect with some previous finalists and meet a number of new ones through their writing. It’s a very exciting time for Māori Literature”, she said.
The winners will be announced at the Pikihuia Awards ceremony on 28 October 2023 at Tākina, Wellington.
They would like to thank everyone who submitted to the 2023 Pikihuia Awards. This year they received a large number of submissions and the standard of work has been exceptionally high. They would also like to take this opportunity to thank the generous judges and the team at HUIA for all of their hard work throughout the competition phase.
