- Dialogue and Subtext with Gary Henderson
- Shaping a Scene with Albert Belz and Stuart Hoar
- Editing and re-drafting with Fiona Samuel
- Where do ideas come from? With Maraea Rakuraku and Helen Vivienne Fletcher
- Making it Short with Rex McGregor and Lindsey Brown – learn about creating ten-minute plays with two multi-award-winning exponents.
- Talking of Verbatim with Paul Kalburgi – The process of creating a verbatim play
- Exploring Form: Plays with Jane Yonge
- Exploring Form: Musicals with Allison Horsley
- Writing Outside Your Own Culture with Jason Te Kare and Marianne Infante
A feature of the workshops is a series of five one-hour sessions called 3 Things I Need. Each of these focus on specific communities of writers led by someone from that community. An opportunity to discuss where you are at with your writing, what help you need and your aspirations for your writing. There are sessions for
- Māori playwrights with Maraea Rakuraku and Jason Te Kare
- Pasifika playwrights with Tanya Muagututi’a
- Asian playwrights with Marianne Infante
- LGBTI+ playwrights with Sam Brooks and Joni Nelson
- Playwrights living with Disability with Helen Vivienne Fletcher
These sessions are open to registered participants and to anyone else who would like to pop in (no charge).
There’s also two Business Time sessions– the processes and practical elements of being a playwright. Ensuring you have written agreements when you work with another writer, what to do when you want to adapt another work, and anything else you wish to know about the business of being a playwright.
