NZSA Wellington Branch 2024 AGM

You are invited to the NZSA Wellington Branch 2024 Annual General Meeting, to be held online only via Zoom on Monday 15 April 2024 from 6.00–7.30pm.

All NZSA members in Wellington Branch will be sent Zoom access details — along with an agenda, and minutes of the previous AGM — by email the week before the 2024 AGM.

We’ll update details here as the AGM draws closer.

Guest speaker Gigi Fenster

Our guest speaker for the online AGM will be Gigi Fenster (pictured above). Gigi studied law before turning to creative writing. Her first book, The Intentions Book (a novel) was shortlisted for the 2013 New Zealand Post Book Awards and longlisted for the IMPAC Dublin Award and the Commonwealth Prize. Her second book Feverish was a work of creative non-fiction, published in 2018. Gigi’s second novel, A Good Winter won the Michael Gifkins Prize and was a finalist in the Ockhams Fiction Awards. She has a PhD in Creative Writing and various law degrees. Gigi is a lecturer in creative writing at Massey University.

Call for nominations

At our AGM, we will be voting on a new committee to carry us through to 2025. While the majority of our current committee members have indicated they will stay on committee, we’re inviting anyone interested in volunteering their time to support our branch to get in touch.

We particularly encourage and warmly invite expressions of interest from NZSA members in Wairarapa.

If you are interested in joining the committee, you will need two people to support your nomination. These can be any members of NZSA Wellington branch. Email Tracy Farr c/- wellington@nzauthors.org.nz if you have any questions about the committee, and/or if you wish to stand for office.

Nominations can be accepted right up until the AGM begins.

Branch chair

The role of branch chair has been formally vacant since the 2023 AGM, with Tracy Farr (Wellington regional representative to the NZSA board) acting in the role in the interim.

We have received one strongly-supported nomination for the role of branch chair. If no other nominations are received (for this or other named roles) we are not required to go to election – the sole nominee will automatically be appointed (under the NZSA Constitution, available online here) at the AGM.
