The Institute of Professional Editors (IPEd) launched the third edition of IPEd standards for editing practice (the Standards) on Thursday 21 March 2024.

The Standards sets out the core standards that professional editors in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand should meet and is a valuable and useful resource for editors and those working in associated industries and roles.

This edition of the Standards seeks to create a professional culture that:

  • supports editors to be champions for diversity, equity and inclusion
  • values the voices of the First Nations people of Australia and the Māori people of Aotearoa New Zealand.

The review of the Standards has been a thorough, consultative process that has taken close to three years to complete.

More information about the third edition of the Standards can be found in the attached media release. The Standards can be downloaded from the IPEd website
