6pm – 8pm, Tuesday 19 November
Writing novels that are easy to read isn’t easy to do. Commercial fiction needs to grip the reader from the very first page and hold them until the last. Nicky Pellegrino looks at some of the principles of crafting popular fiction – the dos and don’ts, the absolute must-haves and the things she has learned over a long career as a published writer that she wishes she had known right at the beginning.
Nicky Pellegrino consistently tops the New Zealand best-seller charts with her novels that explore relationships and entwine multiple characters in emotional, dramatic circumstances. With 15 novels to date published by Hachette, her stories have been translated into 12 foreign languages and are sold around the world. Her latest novel is called Marry Me in Italy. She is also a best-selling author of non-fiction with her book on menopause, Don’t Sweat It, and an award-winning journalist.
Fee: NZSA Members – $35. (Non-members – $65)
