Poets read poets from Wellington Writers Walk

For Phantom Billstickers National Poetry Day 2025, we’re featuring Wellington writers reading poetry from (and inspired by) poets featured on Wellington Writers Walk. We’ll also have an ever-popular open mic on the night — read us your poetry, any theme welcome!

This is a free event in partnership with Wellington Writers Walk for Phantom Billstickers National Poetry Day 2025. All welcome. Light refreshments provided.

What: Poets read poets from Wellington Writers Walk PLUS poetry open mic

Date: Friday 22 August 2025

Where: two/fiftyseven, Level 2, 57 Willis St (also accessed via 70 Victoria St)

Time: 5.30pm sign-up for open mic; 6.00pm event start

The first half of the programme will feature poets reading poetry from (and inspired by) poets featured on the iconic Wellington Writers Walk.

The second half of the programme will feature a poetry open mic. Sign up on the night to read / perform your poetry. To secure your spot on the list, sign up between 5.30pm and 6pm. Readings should be no more than 5 minutes each – poetry only, but any theme welcome.

Accessibility: two/fiftyseven is a fully accessible venue (conveniently close to Unity Books!) – it’s a wonderful space, excellent acoustics and A/V, and very welcoming. Please contact us beforehand if you have any questions.

As always we welcome anyone who chooses to wear a mask, and we ask that if you are unwell you stay home and stay safe.

Transport and travel: two/fiftyseven is on level 2, 57 Willis St. Take the lift up to level 2 from the arcade (hint: the arcade runs down from Willis St next to Unity Books). Before 6pm, you may access via Willis St, but after 6pm, access via 70 Victoria St only. Closest bus stops are on Willis St.
