Your current national board delegate and NZSA Vice-President Melinda Syzmanik is standing down this year. We need a new delegate for Northern Districts.
We thank Melinda sincerely for her significant contribution and efforts to grow and develop our organisation and support the northern regional branches.
Nominations for the Northern Districts regional delegate for the National Board are now open. Strong governance means NZSA can continue to represent you and lobby for all NZ writers and offer robust and forward-looking services and advocacy as your professional representative body.

NORTHERN REGIONS National Board Representative
– about the role
Primary responsibility
To provide governance of the Society for the benefit of all members AND to act as the regional representative for northern branches literary community, maintaining contact with branch chairs, members and non-member writers, literary events and arts organisers in the region.
Ideal attributes:
1. Broad knowledge of the industry;
2. A good grasp of the major issues facing writers;
3. The ability to contribute to the strategy and direction of NZSA; and
4. A willingness to contribute to National Board cohesion and constructive working relationships
We seek Board members who offer diverse experience, skills and perspectives, and welcome all applications. Management experience or skills relating to finance and fundraising or governance would be welcomed onto the national board. This is an opportunity to gain governance experience as part of career development.
The Delegate receives a $350 fee for National Board meetings attended. Travel expenses to attend events as required are paid for by National Office. Four board meetings are held annually by zoom. Attendance at the national AGM and one strategy meeting each year is required. Info here
Nominees for this Regional Delegate role must be a member of one of the northern branches. Nominees may be nominated by the Branch, an individual who is a member of a Branch in the region, or you may nominate yourself. Nominations need to be seconded by another member in the branch and confirmed in writing by the nominee. The nomination form is below.
