We are very pleased to announce the very accomplished Siobhan Harvey will be NZSA’s next President, once ratified at the AGM in Christchurch 27 May.
Siobhan Harvey is the author of Cloudboy (Otago University Press, 2014) and, as co-editor, Essential New Zealand Poems (Penguin Random House NZ, 2014). Both were New Zealand fiction Top 10 Bestselling books. Harvey is also a lecturer at The Centre for Creative Writing, Auckland University of Technology. Her poetry, fiction and creative nonfiction have been published in journals and anthologies globally, and she has been a guest at Festivals from Auckland to Indonesia to Manchester and many points inbetween. For 9 years, she was National Coordinator of National Poetry Day. She has co-organised the NZSA’s Writers Lounge series for a number of years and, in 2014, was on the Creative New Zealand 5 Year Plan strategic panel.

David Burke-Kennedy is a veteran journalist, author and award-winning broadcaster, with a concurrent 40+ year Marketing Communications & business management background. He has written for magazines in USA and United Kingdom as well as New Zealand and has just published his first novel, Legacy of Strangers, a historical saga set in Ireland, United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand.

Ray Berard is a Canadian born Kiwi writer based in Christchurch. He immigrated to New Zealand 1994 and had the fortune to live and work in many parts of the country. Writing was always a passion of his, and 2010 he was able to devote himself full time to writing his first novel, Inside the Black Horse based on a diary he kept during his years working in South Auckland and the Bay of Plenty. The book was released in October 2015 and received considerable critical acclaim, making the NZ Listener’s top 100 books for 2015.
