Two new authors from Auckland meet Pen and Sword Publishing in Yorkshire
Pen and Sword owner Charles Hewitt and Katie Eaton his marketing manager couldn’t believe the coincidence of being visited by two New Zealand authors within two days of each other.
‘Very few of our authors come to see us here in Barnsley’ said Charles Hewitt ‘but Angela Walker and Mike Graham came all the way from New Zealand. They have both written books we are excited about so it was wonderful to meet them.’
Angela’s book ‘From Battle of Britain Airman to POW Escapee’ was released in January and is the epic story of her father’s survival as a world war two airman who was shot down over Germany and after being captured managed to escape and ultimately find freedom.
Mike’s book ‘Secret SAS Missions in East Africa’ is his personal story of the little known C Squadron SAS that operated against Russian and Chinese backed terrorist groups from 1968 through to 1980. The book will be released in England and through Amazon from October and is expected to reach the New Zealand market in late January 2018.
Angela and Mike are both Auckland branch members of NZSA but took different routes to getting published and had never met.
Angela worked with Pen and Sword Aviation while Mike’s work was channelled through Pen and Sword Military.
They have since met and enjoyed swapping notes about trying to get published and the relationship with Pen and Sword. There were many similarities. Both for example had their original titles changed by Pen and Sword.
‘We both complained about it’ said Mike ‘and we both lost the battle. However it wasn’t a bad one to lose once they had explained the logic of using key words to attract the attention of book buyers and the search engines used in the literary world. We both feel we are in really good hands with Pen and Sword.’
