Murder in the Library – Tauranga

The Ngaio Marsh Awards, in association with Tauranga City Libraries, invites Bay of Plenty booklovers to an event featuring three talented crime, mystery, and thriller authors.

Tauranga writers Karen Cossey and Lee Murray are joined by Cambridge crime writer Nikki Crutchley to discuss what drives them to write, and how they create interesting characters, craft page-turning storylines, and are inspired by living in regional New Zealand. ARTbop Literary Editor Marcus Hobson will prosecute the offenders.

WHEN: Thursday 23 May 2019
WHERE: Tauranga City Library, 91 Willow Street, Tauranga
WHEN: 5.30pm

This is a free event.

Phone (07) 577 7177 or email library@tauranga.govt.nz if you’d like to come along.

Karen Cossey lives near the beach and writes action-adventure and mystery stories for children and younger readers. She previously worked in international finance and marketing. Her books include the Crime Stopper Kids Mysteries series, the latest of which is THE CON ARTIST’S TAKEOVER.

Lee Murray is an award-winning writer of fantasy, science fiction, horror, and thriller fiction. She conjures up stories for readers of all ages from her office overlooking a cow paddock. Lee has won several Sir Julius Vogel Awards, and twice been nominated for a Bram Stoker Award, the premier global prize for horror writing.

Nikki Crutchley’s debut NOTHING BAD HAPPENS HERE features a journalist and an out-of-town detective both investigating when the body of a missing tourist surfaces in a small Coromandel town. That book was a finalist for the 2018 Ngaio Marsh Award for Best First Novel. Nikki’s latest novel is NO ONE CAN HEAR YOU.

Marcus Hobson is Literary Editor of ARTbop and Secretary of Tauranga Writers. He worked as an economist in Africa and in finance in Auckland, before moving to the Bay of Plenty. He is a writer and reviewer, and is working on a crime novel and a war-time historical novel.
