The NZ Mountain Book Festival invites authors and photographers to submit their work on the world’s remote places, the environment and adventure sports.
We accept submissions under two categories: Mountain and Adventure Narrative for stories and accounts about specific adventures, fiction or non-fiction; and Mountain and Adventure Heritage for guidebooks, coffee table or picture books, history books, analyses, reflections on culture, environments or ethics, and advocacy.
The 2021 finalists in each category are:
Mountain and Adventure Heritage category
– Tamatea Dusky by Peta Carey
– Huts by Mark Pickering
– Tableland by Ray Salisbury
Mountain and Adventure Narratives category
– A Life of Extremes by Max Quinn
– Finding Solo by Lynn Paterson
– Wild at Heart by Miriam Lancewood
We will also award a $1,000 grand prize to the overall winner for NZ Mountain Book of the Year.
This generous prize was founded and contributed by Dave Bamford and John Nankervis.
Thanks to the judges Allan Uren, Claire Davis and Rebekah White.
The award winners will be announced in the lead up to the festival.
