Selling Internationally: What it Takes

An NZSA Auckland Branch meeting event.
Unfortunately, due to COVID Omicron we have decided to change our in-person event to a live Zoom one at the same time and date of Friday 4 February at 6:15pm. Current Auckland Branch members only will receive the zoom link the day before. It might be online now but it’s still going to be a fascinating evening with Graci Kim Cribbens and Nicky Pellegrino!

What does it take to break through into international markets? What does it look like to be persistent, and how do you find the right markets for your books? NZSA Auckland Branch is delighted to kick off the year by hosting internationally successful authors Graci Kim and Nicky Pellegrino to discuss how to succeed in the international market.

Graci Kim is the bestselling author of The Last Fallen Star, book one in the Korean mythology-inspired middle grade adventure series. Called a “sparkling yarn” by Entertainment Weekly, the Gifted Clans trilogy has been optioned by the Disney Channel for a live-action television series, and was a 2021 Goodreads Choice Award Nominee for “Best Middle Grade & Children’s Book”. In a previous life, Graci was a diplomat for the New Zealand foreign service, a cooking show host, and once ran a business that turned children’s drawings into cuddly toys. She lives in New Zealand with her husband and daughter. You can find her sometimes on Twitter (@gracikim), more often on Instagram (@gracikimwrites), and always at her website (www.gracikim.com).

Nicky Pellegrino is a journalist, with regular columns in the Listener and New Zealand Woman’s Weekly, and is the author of 13 novels. Her latest To Italy, With Love has topped the NZ fiction chart for a number of weeks since its release in September. Nicky’s novels are distributed internationally and have been translated into numerous languages. She has also just published a non-fiction book, Don’t Sweat It, which is about midlife and menopause.
Nicky lives in Auckland and, prior to the pandemic, travelled to Italy regularly to research her stories. Learn more at her website (www.nickypellegrino.com)
