Otago/Southland
The Otago/Southland region covers a large geographical area. We share information across our branch with a monthly newsletter, which includes book news, events and a Member Spotlight each month. Contact the branch for more information about branch events, collaborations or sharing your news.
Much of our activity is centred in Ōtepoti Dunedin, where we are supported by Dunedin Public Libraries, University Book Shop, Dunedin UNESCO City of Literature and Dunedin City Council. These links make creative collaborations possible. Our writers work with artists, musicians, dancers, photographers, museums and community groups to expand the cultural richness of the region. Some of our regular events include the annual National Flash Fiction Day celebration in June, and National Poetry Day in August. We also host a regular Salon reading series for members, and in 2023 we added ‘Salon on the Road’ to reach members beyond central Dunedin.
Write On, our regular community radio programme for writers airs from 12-1pm on the second Wednesday of each month. http://www.oar.org.nz/write-on
