READERS AND WRITERS AKAROA (RAWA) SAVE THE DATE
10–11 June, 2023
The Akaroa Community Arts Council, in association with the New Zealand Society of Authors, is delighted to host its inaugural symposium, Readers and Writers Akaroa 2023. Building on a successful foundation of creative writing events in the past few years, we are branching out with an event for people who love to read books, and for people who love to write them.
Next year, we will bring together some of New Zealand’s most celebrated writers: Gavin Bishop, Fiona Farrell, Vanda Symons, Victor Rodger, Owen Marshall, and a number of other writers who will share their work across genres, including fiction, flash fiction, crime fiction, histories, and playwriting. With several streams to our programme, we offer presentations and workshops that will appeal to both readers and writers. Morrin Rout, trustee on the WORD Christchurch Trust Board, founder of Bookenz, and dedicated supporter of writers and literary events for many years, will be our MC.
As the event will be hosted at the historic Gaiety Theatre in the beautiful environs of Akaroa, we will be welcoming you to Te Pātaka o Rākaihautū, Banks Peninsula. Please register your interest (art@akaroaarts.co.nz), put the event in your calendar, and come and join us for a wonderful weekend focused on reading and writing, and enjoying the company of authors and readers.
