Antipodes journal open to creative writing submissions

The American Association of Australasian Literary Studies (AAALS), together with the American Australian Association, welcomes submissions to our second annual creative writing competition.

Antipodes: A Global Journal of Australia and New Zealand Literature, and the official journal of the AAALS, is accepting submissions of scholarly articles, fiction, creative nonfiction and poetry. The journal is published twice per year in June and December, and this year includes the following three prizes:
Fiction and Nonfiction Prize
Poetry Prize
Indigenous Writers Prize (New!)

The winner of each prize will be awarded:
1) US $500
2) Publication in Antipodes journal (subject to editorial revisions)
3) Hard copy of the journal in which work is published
4) Online poetry reading co-sponsored by the American Australian
Association

Entry Conditions

1. The AAALS Fiction and Nonfiction Prize is open to Australian and New Zealand
residents and citizens and may be no more than 3,500 words in length. 2. The
AAALS Poetry Prize is open to Australian and New Zealand residents and citizens
and may be no more than 100 lines in length.
3. The AAALS Indigenous Writers Prize is open to Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander, or
Māori writers, and the submission may be in fiction, nonfiction, or poetry that adheres
to the previously specified length requirements.
4. Submissions must be unpublished (including online).
5. The prize is open to writers over the age of 18.
6. The competition will be judged anonymously. The author’s name must not appear on
the submitted document or the submission will be disqualified.
7. Multiple submissions are welcome if the author meets the entry criteria. While
AAALS members are welcome to submit multiple entries at no cost, non-AAALS
members must pay for every additional submission.
8. The prize will be awarded at the judges’ discretion, and they reserve the right to not
select a winner. Furthermore, the judges’ decision is final. No correspondence will
