The Asian Artists’ Fund is currently open for applications with $650,000 to distribute to artists. Applications close on Wednesday 16 July at 11.59pm. This year the funding stream options include a suite of residencies, recognising the need for artists to have dedicated time and space to experiment, explore, and develop new work.
The fund, a co-investment partnership between Foundation North, Creative New Zealand and Auckland Council, responds to recommendations made in Rosabel Tan’s 2021 report for Te Taumata, Enter The Multiverse – Building a Stronger Sector For Our Asian Arts Practitioners. Since its launch in 2022, the fund has evolved in response to community feedback through an ongoing co-design process with Asian arts practitioners in Tāmaki Makaurau and Te Tai Tokerau. Its redesign in 2024 was led on behalf of Te Taumata by Rosabel and Jane Yonge.
In 2025, the fund is being administered by Rosabel through Satellites with Jane supporting its continual evaluation.
Applications can be made through Foundation North.
