Renée van de Weert

Renée Hapimarika van de Weert, te Atiawa o Taranaki, is the author of The Last Whale/Te Tohora Whakamutunga, a children’s picture book that was shortlisted for the NZ Post Children’s Book 2002.

Reveille - Book I - Resistance, published in September 2019 by XLibris is the first of a series of Adult Fiction stories set in a dystopian future New Zealand. Book II - Revenge should be published mid-2020 and Book III - working title Resolution, at the end of 2020. Renée worked as a lab technician, scrub cutter, rousie, tomato picker, veterinary assistant, sheep, beef and tree farmer, agricultural journalist and columnist, budget adviser, adult literacy tutor and, latterly, as a Parliamentary Electorate Agent. She says she was always willing to have a go at most things as long as they were legal and loved them all; not least because they were all fuel for her writerly fires.

She has now retired to the beach to write full time.
