Caoimhe McKeogh

Caoimhe writes fiction, poetry and non-fiction, and has been widely published in literary journals and anthologies in New Zealand and around the world. Her publications include Landfall, Overland, Turbine, Starling, Cordite and Meniscus journals.

She is currently working on a PhD in Creative Writing at the International Institute of Modern Letters, Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University, investigating play and playfulness in fiction.

Caoimhe was highly commended in the Sargeson Prize (NZ) in 2021, longlisted for the Ink Tears Short Story Competition (UK) in 2019, shortlisted for the Overland Short Story Competition (Australia) in 2018, given an Honorable Mention in the New Millenium Writing Awards (USA) in 2018 and longlisted in the Prism International Creative Nonfiction Contest (Canada) in 2017. In 2015 she won Headland's Frontier Prize (NZ).

In 2018, Caoimhe gained a Master of Arts in Creative Writing with Distinction, from the International Institute of Modern Letters at Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University.

Caoimhe has been a member of the Headland Journal editorial team since 2018. 

She provides ongoing one-on-one mentoring for beginning writers, is available to facilitate workshops for groups of children or adults, and offers freelance manuscript assessment and editing.

In 2017, Caoimhe was selected for the New Zealand Society of Authors Mentorship Programme, and in 2018 she was selected for the New Zealand Society of Authors CompleteMS Programme.
