Originally from Maidstone in Kent, where I lived for the first 18 years, I was born on the South side of the river Medway, making me a Maid of Kent. If I had been born on the northern side, I would be a Kentish Maid. At 18 I moved to London to study and stayed for a total of 20 years.

After a holiday in New Zealand in 2002 I feel in love with the country and the people, obtained residency in 2003, bought some land, built a beautiful house and run a B&B part-time (see www.zanyhaven.co.nz) whilst working for the local council.  On the 20^th February 2009 I became a citizen of New Zealand. I have now lived in Waipu for 17 years, so not quite a local yet, apparently it takes at least 20 years!
