Douglas Pearce

Douglas Pearce is an emeritus professor of tourism management at Victoria University of Wellington. His teaching, research and consulting projects have taken him to Europe, Asia, South America and the Pacific. In addition to numerous academic papers, he has written five scholarly books on tourism research and the geography of tourism and co-edited four others. His books have been translated into French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian and Japanese.
In retirement, Douglas has begun to write fiction which draws on his expertise and experience in New Zealand and abroad. His debut novel, Lepan’s Shadow,an international mystery was published in September 2025.
