Elizabeth Morton

Auckland writer, Elizabeth Morton was feature poet in the Poetry New Zealand Yearbook 2017, and is included in Best Small Fictions 2016 and 2021. Her first poetry collection, Wolf, was published with Mākaro Press in 2017. This is your real name, her second collection, was published by Otago University Press (2020). Naming the beasts is her latest book of poetry (Otago University, 2022). She twice came second in the Sunday Star-Times Short Story Competition (2016, 2017), second in the Sargeson Short Story Prize (2019), and was highly commended in the Kathleen Grattan Award (2016 and 2021). In 2013 she won the New Voices – Emerging Poets Competition. She has an MLitt Creative Writing from the University of Glasgow, and is now completing an MSc in Applied Neuroscience with King's College London.
