Beloved

“There is so much balm for the soul in this book and I hope many people find healing in Freedom Song. It’s a wonderful gift to the world,” ” Joy Cowley DCNZM OBE New Zealand literature icon Beloved is an antidote to these crazy, accelerated and uncertain times. It encourages us to slow down, breathe deeply and connect with our true nature in order to become more present in our own lives. The timing for the book is perfect as we navigate all manner of challenges in our world. This book is the culmination of two years of grieving. Nature helped me to heal, and in the process, revealed to me a new way of seeing the world. Instead of running from the pain in my heart, I decided to sit on a rock and attempt to understand, and eventually befriend it. Along with a soothing, silent wisdom, my rock gave me a deep gratitude for the guidance and beauty of nature, and awakened in me a love of photography. My photos and the blessings that came to me on my rock, have been brought together in an elegant and powerful way by my friend, book designer Wade Wu. I offer this book to all of you who are going through, or have been through hard times. I hope the comforting energy of this book finds its way directly to your heart.

Freedom Song

“There is so much balm for the soul in this book and I hope many people nd healing in Freedom Song. It’s a wonderful gift to the world,” –Joy Cowley Freedom Song is a powerful and beautiful panacea for the world we live in. It’s a go-to book in times of trouble and a tool to enable more harmony and peace in your life. The book’s simple message – love conquers all – is both confronting and inviting in its delivery. Supporting this timely message is the phenomenal artwork of Ewan McDougall which opens the book up to a whole new audience. It is a meaningful musing on life as well as striking coffee table/art book with a soulful message. Freedom Song is a rare offering; a large format, handsome hardback book with poetry that centres and soothes and original illustrations from an internationally recognised artist. Reminiscent of Maya Angleou’s Life Doesn’t Frighten Me At All, the book is a testament to simple truths which can sometimes be forgotten in our confusing world. Freedom Song challenges our belief systems, examines the juxtaposition between darkness and light and shows us a way through the madness building in our world. It is unique, surprising, lyrical and thought provoking, with a message that is more relevant today than ever.

The tale chronicles the life of Solomon Cortesi as seen through the eyes of three women: his mother, Mirabella; his aunt, Katrina; and his former lover, Saskia. In struggling with their own past and place in the world, these women propel Solomon to a journey of self-discovery that spans generations and reveals to him powerful personal revelations about a curse that has plagued his family for more than a century. What he ultimately discovers sets them free to find the paths leading to understanding and forgiveness.
