Hamish Trolove was born at sea and destined for the life of a pirate, sailing the seven seas searching for treasure. He never could get the hang of shantying and so gave up the seas and became a landlubber in the dry hinterlands of the Hurunui.

Rekindling some of his earlier forays into storytelling, swapping tales around the main mast, he decided that starting a writers’ group might be a good way of exchanging literary treasures, and baubles around other like-minded types, with no shantying involved – or not much anyway.
