Jan FitzGerald

Jan FitzGerald (b.1950) is a long established NZ poet with publication in all the mainstream NZ literary journals since 1970 and overseas in Poetry Australia, The London Magazine, Acumen (UK), Orbis (UK), Yellow Medicine Review (USA), Atlanta Review (USA), Meniscus (Aus.), Gutter Magazine (Scotland), The Loch Raven Review (USA), Voegelin View (USA), Allegro (UK), and The High Window (UK).
Jan has been shortlisted twice in the Bridport Prize Poetry Prize competition and her fifth poetry book Into Air Sweet as Heaven (Wolfdale Publishing) came out in 2025. She is a full-time artist working and exhibiting in Hawke’s Bay, but she says,. “Poet is who I am, art is simply what I do.”
