Jen Eller-Kirkham

Jen worked with international students for many years in two Auckland schools, and now works for a not-for-profit that supports schools' international-department staff. She is working on a novel for adults set in the world of international students in a (fictitious) NZ school.

She also enjoys writing flash fiction, poetry, picture books, and has a middle-grade novel bubbling away in her writer's cauldron. She dreams that one day the multi-coloured smoke from her enchanted brew will bewitch a literary agent or publisher, and she will live happily ever after in tired sweatpants, tapping away at her Macbook, her beloved pooches at her feet, urging her to ensure that every book she writes has a dog in it.

Her work has appeared in Flash Frontier and the Write In. She received highest honours in the 2021 NZ Writers College Short Story Competition, was shortlisted for NZ National Flash Fiction Day 2022, and longlisted for the 2022 Yeovil Literary prize for poetry.
