Jenna Heller

Jenna is an American-Kiwi poet and fiction writer living in Ōtautahi Christchurch, Aotearoa New Zealand. In 2020, she won National Flash Fiction Day (NZ) and had poems shortlisted for two New Zealand prizes. Her flash fiction has been selected for inclusion in the international Best Small Fictions anthology in 2020, 2021, and 2023, and her first young adult manuscript was shortlisted for the 2019 Text Prize.
Her writing appears predominantly in journals based in Aotearoa and the United States, and occasionally in Australia, Canada, and the UK. She is a key member of the Canterbury Poets' Collective committee and is an occassional teacher to the next generation of writers at WRITE ON School for Young Writers and Hagley Writers' Institute.
In June 2024, her first book, The End of the Beginning, a collection of flash fiction, was published by At the Bay | I te Kokoru. Her first poetry collection will be published by Sudden Valley Press in August 2025.
