Jenny McGlone lives with her husband Mark on their lifestyle block on the Kapiti Coast of New Zealand. Jenny grew up in the Hutt Valley and earned two diplomas in Creative Writing from Whitireia Polytechnic. While she enjoyed many writing genres during her studies, writing for children particularly appealed. Jimmy Whiskers and the Great Parrot Rescue is her debut children's novel illustrated by Amanda Fookes and published by Lofty Tales Limited in June 2026. 

Jenny is an active member of the author community and is on the board of the Kapiti Writers Group. Her short story The Search was published in their anthology, Seasons in Kapiti, in 2025.

    Jimmy Whiskers and the Great Parrot Rescue

    Jimmy Whiskers and the Great Parrot Rescue is the first book in a five- part series. It tells the story of a small bird-loving cat who is desperate to rescue three parrots who have escaped from the Ebdentown zoo. Nasty pet rebels have taken over the town and against all odds, Jimmy and his best friend Gary the gorilla, set out on a wild adventure to save the three parrots and bring them safely home. 

    Seasons in Kapiti

    Seasons in Kapiti is an anthology by the Kapiti Writer's Group. Jenny's short story contribution is The Search, a story about two boys lost in the bush above Kapiti on a very stormy night and how they find themselves along the way.
