Johanna Emeney

I am a writer and a teacher. I love both parts of my life in equal measure. I currently balance part-time university work with my own poetry and children's writing.

My experience as a teacher spans 12 years spent in high schools (-2010), 11 years at Massey University, holding creative writing workshops, and 10 years co-facilitating the Michael King Young Writers Workshop (2009-2019).

Outside work, I enjoy reading my own work in public, facilitating community writing groups which offer free courses for all participants, and collaborating with friends on writing projects. My husband's and my biggest love is our menagerie of animals. They inspire most of my poetry.
