John Cranna

John Cranna has published two works of fiction, Visitors, and Arena, plus a non-fiction title on Bicultural Change in Aotearoa. He has won the Commonwealth Writers Prize for Best First Book, the NZ Book Award for Fiction, and a number of national short story awards. His books are published in NZ, Australia, UK and France, where his fiction was used in the national Baccalaureat Exam. He has been the international correspondent for European newspapers, and for five years edited NZ's largest circulation magazine, AA Directions with nearly a million readers. He founded and designed the Masters of Creative Writing at AUT University, where he was voted Best Post Graduate Teacher by students. He currently runs a creative writing centre in Auckland, the Creative Hub, www.thecreativehub.net.nz which employs a number of prominent NZ authors, and has many successful graduates, who have won both national and international prizes and published many books. He is a former National President of the NZ Society of Authors.
