Kirsty Wadsworth
I was born in Slough, England and moved to New Zealand when I was very young. I love reading, writing stories, drama and theatre and scrapbooking about my various travels. My day job is a primary school teacher, which I love. I currently live in New Plymouth with my husband, Manu, our children, Matthew and Sophia, and many, many books!
I had my first book, ‘The Promise of Puanga’ published by Scholastic in 2019. I then went on to win the 2021 Storylines Joy Cowley award with my manuscript ‘Ihaka and the Unexpected Visitor’. The Māori translations of both books have won a Storylines Notable Book Award. My next children’s book is set to be released in 2025.
I am also a three time judge on the picture book panel for the Storylines Notable Book Awards. I enjoy reading high quality children’s literature and sharing them with my children and students.
