Kathryn Burnett

Kathryn is an award-winning writer with numerous stage and screen credits including “Under The Vines”, “Fresh Eggs”, "Bird's Eye View", "The Tender Trap" and “My Life is Murder.” 

Early in 2026 she finished a 6 month stint as the Story Producer on Series 2 "Secrets At Red Rocks" which is based on Rachel King's novel of the same name.

Kathryn also works as a writing coach and tutor who creates and facilitates writing & creativity workshops for organisations and creatives.

Her one-woman play Nicola Cheeseman is Back” was shortlisted for the 2023 Adams NZ Play Award and went on to enjoy a successful premiere in 2024, encore series at Q Theatre 2025, inclusion in several art festivals and Radio NZ’s Drama Series.

Kathryn has a couple of non-fiction books to her name (How to Spot a Dickhead & The Productive Writer Guidebook) and has run a subscriber based writing group called The Writing Room for over seven years. 

Her first horror story was published in the horror anthology "Remains To Be Told - Dark Tales of Aotearoa" (Clandestine Press) in 2024.  

She’s an engaging panel facilitator and public speaker, helming panels for the Auckland Writers Festival, SPADA Conference, NZ Society of Authors, NZ Writers Guild and Fourth World Conference of Screenwriters in Berlin.
