Katie Furze

Katie Furze is a children’s author who writes fiction and non-fiction including short stories, articles, plays, picture books, readers, and novels. Books include: KEKENO, CURIOUS EXPLORER (Scholastic NZ, 2026), PEKAPEKA, SECRET FOREST BAT (Scholastic NZ, 2025), RURU, NIGHT HUNTER (Scholastic NZ, 2024), TUATARA, A LIVING TREASURE (Scholastic NZ, 2023), all illustrated by Ned Barraud. Katie has a Master of Creative Writing from Auckland University of Technology. Many of her stories have appeared in the New Zealand School Journal and The School Magazine in Australia, she has published stories in anthologies, and written readers and plays for educational publishers. She has been shortlisted in the Storylines Joy Cowley Award twice and in the Tom Fitzgibbon Award.
