Lee Fraser
Lee Fraser grew up in Aotearoa, was a linguist in Papua New Guinea and Kenya in her 20s, collided with domesticity in Ōtautahi during her 30s, and has since rediscovered health through poetry.
In 2024 she had 22 pieces accepted for publication and was a finalist for Given Words, Micro Madness and the Monica Taylor poetry prize. Her pieces also appear in Catalyst, a fine line, Fuego, London Grip, NZPS Anthology 2024, Ōtautahi is Flash, Poetry Yearbook Aotearoa 2025, Tarot and elsewhere. Her poetry feature sets have included Biketober, Face/Off Comedy vs Poetry, Late Night Poetry, Soft Pals, Speakeasy, and Te Pūtahi’s Christchurch Conversations. She won her regional slam in 2023 and 2024, and came fourth nationally in 2024.
Lee writes to excavate human quirks, vices and dignity. She is also fascinated with the ordinary as meaningful and/or spectacular. Her work covers hilarity, heartbreak, the humdrum, and hesitant hope. She also loves music, plants and dietary requirements victories.
