Makaira Waugh is a Te Ātiawa kaiako, artist, celebrant and writer from Parihaka Pā in Taranaki. He is currently writing a book about his mahi facilitating Tā te Manawa healing and leadership retreats for Māori and Indigenous peoples in Aotearoa and Oaxaca, México. He speaks te reo o Taranaki and Spanish, and is learning mihimihi in as many languages as possible.
