Mic Dover is a screenwriter, editor, script consultant, musician, playwright and lyricist with a wide range of music and film industry experience:
FILM - Music credit for "The End" Short film by Gwen Daly (2005); Directed, narrated, co-wrote and edited 'New Life, New Zealand' 10 min documentary about UK migrants in New Zealand (2006). Writer/Editor for 18min short "Late Equaliser" Awarded laurels from KIFF (Kiwi international films), Best Shorts (La Jolla CA,) TMC film awards (London) and People's Choice Award at Top of the South Short Film Festival Nelson 2016. Script Consultant for film shorts 'Starfish' and 'Monster Sale' (2017-18).
MUSIC - rhythm/lead guitarist in UK alternative punk act Clayson and the Argonauts (1977-79), rhythm/lead guitarist/songwriter in UK new wave band Between Pictures (1979-83), rhythm/lead guitarist/songwriter in UK dance-punk band Friction Groove (1983-85), signed to Atlantic Records and Warner Publishing.
THEATRE - full-length stage play 'Seconds' produced by Jo Public Pub Theatre in Reading, UK (1995), published by the New Playwrights Network 1996 (ISBN-10 : 086319401X); one act play 'Lake Placid Blue, Metallic' produced by Progress Theatre, Reading, UK. (1996),tTwo short stage plays 'A Busy Man' and 'Placenta Forward' produced by Progress Theatre (1997) 1998 'Heart and Soul', a full length play shortlisted for the 'First Stage' New Writers competition & also produced by Progress Theatre as the winner of their New Writing slot; Home, Smart Home a radio play (a shortened version of an earlier full length play called 'The Millennium Home' developed in conjunction with BBC Radio 4 Drama Dept. Home, Smart Home was the winner of the Fresh FM Radio Drama Competition in 2004 and was re-recorded by RNZ (New Zealand National Radio) and broadcast in 2005. A stage version of Home, Smart Home was produced and performed by Jo Public Tangata Theatre Company in The Free House yurt, Nelson, NZ.
WRITING/JOURNALISM - Creator and Editor of IT/Local Government trade journal 'Electronic Public Information' (1995-2000); columnist for Fairfax local newspaper The Nelson Mail(2002-04); freelance writer for various media outlets including BBC Online News, The UK Guardian, The NZ Listener, North & South, Idealog, etc. (2001-2008).
