Mira Harrison

Dr Mira Harrison is a doctor-turned-writer, whose stories are based on her experience working in hospitals in Aotearoa and Britain. Her first work of fiction, Admissions, a collection of tales about women working in a public hospital, was published by Steele Roberts Aotearoa, in December 2018. A sequel, New Admissions: tales of life, death & love in the time of lockdown, was published in 2020.

Before becomign a writer, Mira followed a career in women’s health, medical research and pharmacovigilance (monitoring the safety of medicines). She was the first female president of the International Society of Pharmacovigilance (ISoP) and has written and edited two medical books: Medicines for Women and An Introduction to Pharmacovigilance

Mira lives in beautiful Otepoti, Dunedin, UNESCO City of Literature. She currently works part-time at Otago University, in the Department of Women's Health. She has completed her first novel and is currently working on a second, set in a hotel on the Otago Harbour in 2072. Mira is represented by Tom Cull of Cull and Co. Literary Agency (UK).
