Who am I? For the past twenty years I have been teaching in a School of Art and Design at an Auckland, New Zealand, university. My own academic background is in literature and philosophy, with a PhD awarded in 2008. My teaching for the past ten years has been focused on postgraduate studies, especially supervising candidates in creative doctoral study, in the arenas of the visual arts, film, fiction and creative writing. I have published in critical literary arenas and have exhibited my essay-films internationally. Those authors I gravitate to tend to have strong historical contexts within which they forge or invent narrative and, at times, mythic events.
