Mohammad Rahman
Mohammad Mustafizur Rahman is a Bangladeshi born playwright who immigrated to New Zealand in 2019 and is based in Auckland. He has written over ten plays in Bengali, all of which have been performed by different theatre groups in Bangladesh. His first book Stanislavsky’s Acting System: The First Ten Lessons (1994), and his most recent book Play Directing: Theory and Practice (2016) were published in the Bengali language in Bangladesh. Now, he is writing plays in English and is ready to publish the manuscripts Stage Plays: Ten-Minutes, One-Act and Full-Length, and A Full-Length Stage Play: Hurray!
Dr Rahman has a Master of Arts (Honors) in Drama from the University of Rabindra Bharati and a PhD from the Faculty of Arts, University of Dhaka, in 2004. These qualifications have been assessed by NZQA since 2016.
He has experience as a researcher, director, actor and playwright in both Realist and Absurdist Drama. His interest includes Bengali Theatre called Alcuff Theatre, which is an innovative theatre movement in Bangladesh. He is a member of the New Zealand Playwrights Association (NZPA).
