Reinhold Kittelberger

Born in 1949 and raised in Gernsheim, Germany, Reinhold studied chemistry and biochemistry in Berlin and, after obtaining a PhD in natural sciences, he worked as a scientist in medical research. Since 1986, he has lived in Wellington, New Zealand, where he was a senior adviser at the Animal Health Laboratory, Upper Hutt. He has published more than 70 scientific papers.

Storytelling to his young son inspired the children's story Olivio's Odyssey (not yet published). After retirement, Reinhold began belletristic writing seriously, which was a steep learning curve for him. The historical novel Reinoldus in German is his first major work.

Olivano helps her with this quest but his return home becomes an adventurous journey. Only the friendship that connects him with Princess Snakonina makes it possible for Olivano to succeed.

In the 8th century, a great epoch in world history, the young knight Renaud becomes involved in many important events of the time. After a dangerous journey to the Abbasid Empire, a pilgrimage to the Holy Land and a visit to Rome, he stays at the imperial estate of Gerînsheim. Every evening he tells of his life and his adventures there to the locals. He falls in love with the beautiful Wisigardis and they marry. But Renaud, now called Reinhold, still has to go to Kolna to help build the cathedral as part of a penance imposed on him by Emperor Charles. After a detour to Aquisgranum to visit his uncle, the Emperor, his life takes a dangerous turn.

Wars and battles, love and suffering, intrigue and loyalty - an exciting novel that takes the reader on an adventurous journey through the colorful world of the 8th century.
