Susette Goldsmith

Susette Goldsmith is an independent writer and editor. She has written articles and regular columns for diverse publications and has published three social histories: The Gardenmakers of Taranaki (Ratanui Press); Tea: A Potted History of Tea in New Zealand (Reed Publishing); and Suzy's: A Coffee House History (Quill).After completing a PhD at Te Herenga Waka Victoria University of Wellington, she has focused her research and writing on the natural heritage of Aotearoa. She edited the multi-disciplinary essay collection Tree Sense: Ways of Thinking about Trees (Massey University Press, 2021) and published Capital Trees: The Arboreal Legacy of Te Upoko-o-te-Ika the Wellington Region (Te Papa Press, 2025). She is of Ngati Mahanga and Pakeha descent and lives in Te Whanganui-a-Tara Wellington.
